In the event of a suspected incidence of child abuse, the teacher must inform the program director and the program director must contact one of the owners.
Any time a staff person suspects abuse or neglect of a child, they are required to report the incident to DCF or a law enforcement agency within 12 hours of suspecting that a child has been abused or neglected. The DCF hotline number to call for reporting abuse or neglect is (800) 842 2288. The Director must be notified immediately that a report has been made.
Informing the Family that a DCF Report has been Made
Unless there is a case of suspected serious physical or sexual abuse, the family will be notified by the Director that a report has been filed. The allegations will be explained to the parent and they will be informed that DCF will be contacting them. In cases of serious physical abuse or sexual abuse, parents will not be informed by the Director prior to DCF informing the family that a report has been made. Should it be deemed that the child is in need of immediate medical attention or services, Klub Kid, Inc. staff will call 911 to arrange for transportation to an area hospital. A staff person will accompany the child to the hospital and parent(s) will be notified of the action taken. When a child is suspected of being abused or neglected by a member of the Klub Kid, Inc. staff, the director will immediately notify the child's parent or other person responsible for the child's care that a report has been made. The staff person will be sent home until further information is available. The Program Director will immediately contact the owners.
